Gobi, theglobe.com Sign Marketing Pact

New York City-based community site operation theglobe.com and Gobi Inc., a provider of PCs with unlimited Internet access for a monthly fee, signed an agreement whereby Gobi will feature theglobe.com as its exclusive community partner.

Gobi members pay $25.99 monthly for a three-year term and receive an Intel Celeron computer, unlimited Internet access and 24/7 member service. Gobi said it expects to fulfill one million memberships over the next 12 months.

theglobe.com will be prominently displayed as the exclusive community site on all Gobi desktops. In addition, the shopping outlets at theglobe.com -- shop.theglobe.com and the Shopper's Club -- will be featured within a special Shopping icon on the Gobi desktop. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

"Through our alliance with Gobi, we expect to acquire new Internet users by offering them a broad array of integrated services available at theglobe.com's network," said Dean Daniels, COO of theglobe.com. "This agreement helps us to further build our brand and establish the loyalties of a new Internet audience."
