Eyeblaster has opened a Chicago office to provide greater support and service to its clients in the Midwest, including online agencies, advertisers and publishers. Brenda Coan will lead the office as manager of business development for the Midwest region, a role in which she'll oversee work for Starcom IP, FCB and OMD in Chicago; Zentropy Partners in Minneapolis; and Ford Motor Media in Detroit, while pursuing new business. Previously, Coan served as Midwest sales manager for Endemic Media and strategic account manager for DoubleClick Media.

"In the Midwest region, Eyeblaster volume has doubled during the previous year and grown 56 percent in the last quarter alone," said Steven Goldberg, director of U.S. sales for Eyeblaster. "This rapid growth has created the need for a dedicated regional office to better serve Eyeblaster's clients."

The Sacramento Bee has promoted Ed Canale to vice president of new media and strategic planning, a role in which he'll oversee the newspaper's interactive properties. Canale joined The Bee in December 1980, serving as assistant managing editor of graphics and features. In 1993 he became director of marketing and in 1999 became director of new media and strategic planning.

"Creating this new position reflects the growing importance of the Internet to our business," said Janis Heaphy, publisher and president of The Sacramento Bee. "Ed has earned the promotion based on his leadership in new media and the division's impressive results."

Marketing and sales software and data management firm POPstick has opened a European office, in Paris. The company said the branch's primary function is to service Microsoft EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) while opening doors to new European business. The office will be run by Joseph Donyo, POPstick's director of European sales.

The founders of New York City-based Interactive Edge have acquired the company back from London-based advertising conglomerate Cordiant Communications Group, returning it to privately held status. The company, which provides data analysis and brand planning products, will continue to be led by the original co-founders Zel Bianco, president and CEO, and Cynthia Carnesi, chief operating officer.
