WorldPages Signs On with 24/7 Media

San Francisco-based WorldPages.com, an Internet yellow and white pages service, said it formed a strategic partnership for banner sales with Internet ad network 24/7 Media Inc.

The company also said that its Web site is now featured in the "People" area of the Netscape Guide by Yahoo!

And, WorldPages said it has now sold more than 50,000 Web sites and home pages via its sales network of more than 80 partner companies.

"We believe we have sold more local Web sites than any other player if you don't count scanned ads or freebies which are sometimes used to inflate numbers," said Dick Reid, CEO of WorldPages/Web YP Inc. "Our revenues continue to grow at about 15% per month."

WorldPages said it will build a new national ad program around its partnership with 24/7 Media. Tim Dick, executive vice president of WorldPages/Web YP Inc., said: "24/7 has been really responsive to our needs and that's going to help us continue to build our ad program. You'll see us expand our partnership with 24/7 in the future in some unique ways."

The Netscape Guide by Yahoo! deal (financial details were not disclosed) adds to the list of companies that feature WorldPages directories, including Netcom, Packard-Bell/NEC, and TMP Worldwide.

Lastly, WorldPages said it has moved its San Francisco headquarters to new offices on Union Square, a more central location.

Web YP Inc., the parent of WorldPages, is a provider of Web-based advertising for small businesses in the U.S. and Canada. The company has over 80 sales affiliates and 50,000 advertisers.
