Xevo Enhances Service Management Software

Xevo Corp, a Marlborough, Mass.-based developer of infrastructure software for service providers, yesterday released a new version of its XML-based service management solution, which is designed to provide efficient, reliable and automatic application provisioning, metering, packaging and subscriber/user management.
XevoWorks Release 2.3 aims to help service providers by enabling them to offer customers a robust provisioning platform, improved delegated administration control over their own hosted environment, self-registration and increased security. XevoWorks 2.3 also supports Microsoft Exchange Instant Messenger and SharePoint Team Services in addition to existing support of hosted Microsoft Exchange 2000 and other products within the Microsoft .NET family.
Specific new features in XevoWorks 2.3 include the following:
- Enhanced Multi-Forest Support: XevoWorks
2.3 supports any combination of singe or multi-forest
deployment options while still giving the service provider a
unified view of its hosting environment via centralized
management and reporting capabilities.
- Microsoft Exchange Prescriptive Architecture Guide (PAG:
Compliance. Xevo said that is working closely with Microsoft to enables service
providers to provision and manage a PAG-compliant deployment
that conforms to Microsoft's recommended Exchange hosting
strategy, and keeps the service provider in step with leading
Microsoft solutions such as .Net.
- Delegated Administrator Improvements: These improvements are designed to give service
providers substantial savings and higher levels of customer
support by enabling their end-users to perform more
administrative tasks while adhering to the policies
established by the service provider. DA now supports the
growing role of the reseller in the software-as-a-service
value chain by enabling them to create, edit and manage their
own customers and users.
- Upgrade Offer Wizard: A service provider
can up-sell their customers to additional services. For
example, the service provider can offer an Instant Messaging
upgrade to its basic Exchange offering and have XevoWorks
automatically provision those users authorized for the

XevoWorks includes service models and provisioning
capabilities to enable each of the Microsoft tiered offerings.
In addition, XevoWorks allows service providers to develop
customized offerings of Exchange based on the requirements of
their end users.
- Reporting Improvements: XevoWorks 2.3 offers service providers
the capability to run an out-of-the-box Microsoft License
Reconciliation Report that lets them report on Exchange SAL
license usage per Microsoft requirements. In addition,
XevoWorks 2.3 allows service providers to generate a
Subscriber Billing Report that provides all required data when
billing on a per-user-per-month basis.
- Resource Management Improvements: XevoWorks 2.3 has expanded
capabilities for intelligently managing both Exchange mail
stores and mailboxes.
- Prioritization of Provisioning Jobs: XevoWorks 2.3 extends to its service provider customers more robust job management capabilities for its provisioning system.
