Trellix Adds to Publishing Platform

Trellix Corp.'s goal is to put its Web-site publishing system in front of the country's 21 million small businesses, but it knows better than to try to reach this fragmented group on its own. Instead the Concord, Mass.-based company has made a name for itself in the often-nameless private-label ASP market.

Today Trellix announced version 4.5 of its Web-site building platform for the small business market. The offering is designed to allow the company's wide range of service providers partners, which includes Interland, Interliant, Terra Lycos and Domain Direct among others, to offer customers a one-stop solution for publishing, promotion and business services.

Peter Van de Graaf, Trellix' vice president of marketing and product management, told ASPnews that small businesses have moved beyond the early adopter phase and are now mainstream adopters who want a single sign-on and a single bill for all Web site-related services.

"Trellix is right on the mark in terms of the integrated Web services it's providing to end users. Additionally, the company's private-label distribution strategy has proven to be one of the most effective ways to tap into this hard-to-reach small business market," said Kneko Burney, director of Business Infrastructure and Services at market research firm In-Stat/MDR.

Version 4.5 of Trellix platform is designed to combine site-building technology with promotions and business services such as search engine submission and e-mail marketing.

Van de Graaf said that in addition to offering a complete set of services, Trellix wants to establish a wide set of partners by adding vertical service providers. In keeping with that philosophy, today Trellix announced that Thomas Publishing, a New York-based company that specializes in providing information to industrial and manufacturing segments, will offer Trellix's Web site building tools its clients.

Trellix 4.5 includes the following services:

  • Site Building Tools and Services: These include Trellix Web Express, a browser-based site builder for both novice and intermediate users. Publish-ready content and an array of professional, editable designs provide users with a multi-page Web site with extensive opportunities for customization. Other tools include integrated e-commerce, an HTML editor, file manager, blogging tools and an offline photo management tool.
  • Site Promotion and Marketing Services: Trellix provides a suite of online tools and services to market a small business.
