Microsoft Awards Gold in Asia

Microsoft started its Gold Certification for Hosting and Application Services program two years ago. While ten service providers have met Microsoft's requirements, no Asia-based companies have qualified for either application or infrastructure management services.

That changed earlier this week when Korea Telecom announced it has been gold-certified by Microsoft for its managed Web hosting service.

According to Microsoft, the certification is designed to recognize providers that have demonstrated the capability to deliver a consistent, high-quality hosted or outsourcing service built on Microsoft technology.

To receive Gold Certification, Korea Telecom said it underwent an audit process to ensure that it could demonstrate the following:

  • Convenience of Internet data center service applications
  • Customer satisfaction regarding data center service usage
  • Swiftness and convenience of data center facility and operation
  • Objectivity of planning and development of data center service.

Korea Telecom also reported that auditors interviewed Internet data center users and completed on-site inspections.

Other service providers that have achieved Microsoft Gold certification include Digex, divine, Genuity Apptix, Equant, ManagedOps.com, Netstore, Qwest, USA.NET and USinternetworking.
