NaviSite Partners with Progress

Looking to help independent software vendors (ISVs) become ASPs, NaviSite Inc. , an Andover, Mass.-based managed hosting provider, yesterday announced it has partnered with application infrastructure provider Progress Company, a Bedford, Mass.-based business unit of Progress Software Corporation .

The goal of the partnership between NaviSite and Progress is to help ISVs offer their packaged products as subscription-based application services without needing spend the time and money needed to build their own infrastructure.

The strategic partnership, according to the companies, is designed to provide ISVs with access to the technologies and services needed to offer tightly integrated business services at a low total-cost-of-ownership. The partnership includes a marketing agreement in which Progress and NaviSite will promote the joint solution to Progress Company ISVs in the U.S.

"This new partnership provides an ideal solution for the thousands of Progress Partners who are moving to a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and the more than 300 ASPen program members who are actively engaged in delivering their software as a service. We are moving many of our hosted customers to NaviSite," said Chris Clabaugh, vice president of the Progress ASPen Business Unit.

Progress' ASPen program is designed to provide assessment and planning, development, deployment, hosting, maintenance and support allow ISVs to ASP-enabled their applications.

In addition to supporting Progress Software's SOA, NaviSite reports that it is also incorporating Progress technologies that enable Microsoft Partners to deliver their software as a service without middleware.

"We have a strong history of providing world-class infrastructure, application management and monitoring for ASPs," said Corey Pratte, director of partnerships and channels at NaviSite. "Our partnership with Progress creates an enhanced platform of technology, industry knowledge, and economic value upon which ASPs can grow their business." Progress Software is listed by ASPnews as a Top 20 Enabler.
