Enterprise ASP USi today announced that its implementation of the eMedicaid system for the State of Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has gone live. The system, which integrates Web-based applications with mainframe systems, is managed and hosted using USi's AppHost service.
The eMedicaid system is part of the State of Maryland's eGovernment initiative and is designed to reduce paperwork, speed time to service and improve communication between the state agency and healthcare providers participating in the state's Medicaid program.
"The real benefit of this approach is that it avoids taxing our limited internal resources by empowering providers to manage many aspects of their participation in the state's Medicaid program so that they can directly and immediately benefit," Shugart said.
The eMedicaid System provides, according to USi, a secure Web-based portal that accesses a legacy database as well as new modules that offer self-service features. Healthcare providers, for example, can enroll in the state's Medicaid program online compared to the average two-weeks this process previously required, according to State of Maryland.
Managed Care Organizations (MCO) can also manage and update their list of accredited providers, replacing, USi said, a process of weekly batch transfers via floppy disk.
Annapolis, Md.-based USi offers hosted enterprise and e-commerce applications from Ariba, BroadVision, Lawson, Microsoft, Oracle, PeopleSoft and Siebel.
USi is listed by ASPnews as a Top 20 Service Provider.
