Hoover's First to Use Kurion's My.com Solution

Kurion's My.com is now available and Hoover's Online yesterday announced it has taken advantage of the solution to create MyHoover's, going live after four weeks of preparation.

The My.com solution helps Internet businesses quickly bring personalized versions of their Web sites to market. Kurion, Inc. (Austin, TX) offers the solution as a hosted service and also builds, tests and maintains it for clients.

J.T. Keating, president and chief executive officer, Kurion, described its relationship with Hoover's as bringing together the best personalization technology on the market with the leading Internet destination for business intelligence, products and services.

"Our My.com Active Personalization technology gives Hoover's Online users the ability to access precisely the resources they need, while providing Hoover's Online an added opportunity to attract new visitors and increase utility to their existing users," Keating said.

My Hoover's is a free service that allows Hoover's Online to offer its users the ability to customize the site to meet their research and information needs without doing anything to the site itself.

Other services similar to My.com implement the "check-box" approach, which requires businesses to organize content into predefined user choices. This limits the kinds of information a site visitor can access, limiting the business' ability to accurately meet the needs of its customers.

Hoover's Online (HOOV) users can view their preferred content on My Hoover's by using keywords to pull exactly what they want and organize it as desired.

Patrick Spain, chief executive officer, Hoover's, said, "My Hoover's gives us an opportunity to better understand the usage patterns of our users so that we can continue to build a service that helps them make better decisions and take action."
