Intelligroup, Ariba Join Forces

Intelligroup and Ariba last week came together to expand Ariba's B2B e-commerce platform offering to small and medium size companies.

Prior to this alliance, Ariba, Inc. (ARBA)focused on large companies.

Intelligroup, Inc. (ITIG)is a global vertical ASP and creates end-to-end industry-specific solutions for its customers through its ASPPlus Solutions.

The agreement between Intelligroup and Ariba will offer scalable e-commerce applications targeted to the specific business needs of companies with market cap of $1 billion and under. Through its innovative ASPPlus Solutions, Intelligroup will customize, host, implement, manage and support the Ariba B2B Buyer application, which is part of the Ariba B2B Platform.

As Intelligroup is a substantial outsourcing/services company with a strongly developing ASP strategy, the partnership with Ariba is a significant step in continuing that evolution. Earlier this year, Intelligroup also announced a strategic alliance with Intelligent E-Business software provider MicroStrategy Inc. (MSTR) that calls for Intelligroup to host, implement and support applications developed on MicroStrategy's E-Business Platform.

"It is very important for a company like us to create the right partnership with software providers," Arjun Valluri, chief executive officer, Intelligroup, told ASP-News. "Alliances like these allow us to move into markets where we can offer B2B portals to the small to medium space

Valluri explained that as part of the alliance with Ariba, Intelligroup plans to train 100-plus existing employees in the Ariba platform. The two companies also plan to establish co-op marketing and sales programs to ensure market penetration and global success.

Intelligroup is also a founding member of the AT&T (T) Ecosystem for ASPs, a network services platform with a comprehensive co-marketing and distribution program that will enable ASPs to quickly and easily deliver high-performing and reliable network-based applications. Other members include Cisco Systems Inc., IBM, Hewlett-Packard, EMC Corporation and Sun Microsystems Inc.
