Cisco Systems today announced Web NS 4.0, its offering of advanced capabilities to Web hosters and ASPs.
Web NS 4.0 streamlines large-scale global networks, reduces network response time and optimizes performance to preserve brand equity and customer loyalty, according to Cisco.
Cisco Web NS 4.0 is based on technology acquired from ArrowPoint Communications, enabling a content-smart Internet that performs content-based switching and routing, dynamic content distribution and replication and the ability to rapidly deploy a global content networking infrastructure across the Internet.
"With Cisco Web NS 4.0, we are raising the bar for content intelligence," Cheng We, vice president and general manager, content switching technologies business unit. "By empowering a content-smart Internet, Cisco gives customers a competitive edge through advanced content delivery and distribution services."
The software will be available as a free software upgrade to customers with support contracts. For distributed site support and CDN features for the Cisco 11050 and Cisco 11150, it will cost $7,995, and $19,995 for the Cisco 11800.
