Akamai Taps Director

Akamai Technologies , a Cambridge, Mass., content delivery firm, has elected Ronald L. Graham, a former chief scientist for AT&T Labs, to its board of directors.

He previously served on the Akamai board of advisors member, and has a wealth of expertise and experience in computer science, mathematics, and engineering. He is currently the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Endowed Chair of Computer and Information Science at the University of California at San Diego.

"Ron's distinguished work in the fields of mathematics and computer science has proven to be a tremendous asset to Akamai in our continued development of infrastructure technologies for business in the Internet age," said George Conrades, chairman and CEO, Akamai.

Prior to his role as Chief Scientist for AT&T Labs, Graham was director of information sciences at AT&T Bell Laboratories for 30 years. He has taught at Rutgers University, Princeton University, and California Institute of Technology.

Graham holds a Ph.D. and master's degree in mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, as well as a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks.
