Genuity Promotes Two

Genuity , a Woburn, Mass., maker of Internet infrastructure, has promoted Ira H. Parker and Susan H. Bowman to its executive vice president ranks.

Parker is the company's general counsel while Susan H. Bowman heads the human resources organization.

"Ira and Susan helped build Genuity into a global leader and were instrumental in developing the plans for the company's IPO," said Genuity chairman and CEO Paul R. Gudonis.

Genuity became a publicly traded company in June of 2000. The company began as BBN and was acquired by GTE in 1997 to become GTE Internetworking.

In addition to his role as general counsel, Parker also serves as corporate secretary for Genuity. He previously served as vice president and deputy general counsel of GTE Corporation, where he was responsible for providing legal oversight and management for its Internet businesses, including GTE Internetworking.

In addition to her role as head of HR, Bowman is also responsible for working with Genuity's board of directors on human resource policies, leadership development, and compensation programs.

Previously, Bowman held human resources positions within GTE Service and GTE Telephone Operations. She was named vice president of human resources for GTE Internetworking when GTE acquired BBN in 1997.
