Everdream Wakes Up To Two Patents

Desktop management software maker Everdream this week confirms it has been awarded two key patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The Fremont, Calif.-based company says owning patents, #US 6,281,894 B1 and #US 6,301,666 B1, means they hold the intellectual property rights relating to computer system stability, remote diagnostic support, recovery of data and remote application software management.

Both technology practices are used in the company's signature platform, Control Center.

"Desktop management and other IT services require a new technology set to achieve the level of dependability, security, and customization that customers demand," says Everdream CTO Russ Rive. "The issuance of these patents underlines Everdream's ability to provide Managed Desktop Services superior to those of our competitors. Furthermore, the patents support Everdream's commitment to providing cost-effective, sustainable technologies that are easy to implement and provide more immediate results than many of the bloated traditional toolsets."

As a desktop management service, Everdream protects, supports, and manages enterprise-computing assets. By combining Web technology with support tools and a specialized service organization, Everdream says it provides single point of contact support for all company headquarter and remote location computing needs.

The patents could cause quite a stir in the management service provider sector. Other MSPs include 2ndWave, Inc., Candle Corporation, Entuity, Inc., HP OpenView, InteQ Corp., iSharp, Luminate, Manage.Com, ManageIT, McAfee.com, NCMX, Inc., Nuclio Corporation, SilverBack Technologies, Inc., SiteLite, Inc., siteROCK Corporation, Storability, Inc., TriActive, Inc., and UP 7/24.

"While our business model and value-proposition have been widely applauded, the issuance of these patents demonstrates the strong technology focus at Everdream," says Everdream CEO Gary Griffiths. "The emergence of the Internet as a key component in enterprise computing, the cost-effectiveness of web-enabled applications, and the increasing support of key industry standards have created opportunities for Everdream to develop valuable intellectual property that benefits our customers and creates a solid foundation for future Everdream services."
