Interwise Moves to Mass.

Interwise, a maker of Web conferencing and distance learning technology, has moved its headquarters to Cambridge, Mass., from Santa Clara, Calif., to be closer to potential investors and employees.

The new facility is located on First Street near Kendall Square.

"With Boston's proximity to financial and intellectual capital in the Web conferencing and eLearning markets . . . Interwise views the relocation to Boston as a critical step in promoting corporate and fiscal growth over the next decade," a company spokeswoman said.

The company also made two executive appointments: Neil Lieberman, vice president of marketing; and Jon McNerney, general manager of Europe and international sales.

Interwise products provides a single platform for live collaboration, communications and distance learning. The company targets Global 2000 companies and has a presence in 20 countries. It also maintains a research and development center in Israel.

Interwise is privately held and recently secured $34 million in third round financing from NTT and others. The new backing will be used for research and development.
