These solutions supply DB2 customers with a non-proprietary storage management infrastructure

VERITAS today announced it is shipping two new storage virtualization products for IBM's DB2 Universal Database: VERITAS Database Edition(TM) for DB2 and VERITAS Database Edition/HA(TM) for DB2.

According to VERITAS, these solutions supply DB2 customers with a non-proprietary storage management infrastructure that optimizes the performance of database applications and simplifies the administration of the underlying DB2 storage and server environment. The HA (high availability) version of VERITAS Database Edition for DB2 adds VERITAS software clustering technology.

VERITAS also announced it and IBM have signed a Cooperative Support Agreement that broadens a pre-existing partnership to provide enterprise-class support to mutual customers.

``VERITAS and IBM have previously worked together to deliver high availability and online backup solutions that support DB2,'' said Kevin Reinis, vice president and general manager, IBM Division, VERITAS Software. ``We plan to continue to collaborate with IBM to produce software-based, enterprise storage solutions that accommodate DB2 and other markets.''

Pricing for version 1.0 of VERITAS Database Edition for DB2 and VERITAS Database Edition/HA for DB2 starts at a suggested retail price of $6,400.
