Akamai Scores Nissan Marketing Deal

Nissan plans to use the Akamai EdgeSuite service to power its Web marketing splash for the release of the 2002 Nissan Altima.

Cambridge, Mass. E-business infrastructure services and software firm Akamai Technologies has announced a deal with Nissan North America to support the car maker's marketing promotion of the 2002 Nissan Altima.

Nissan plans to use the Akamai EdgeSuite service to power its Web marketing splash for the release of the new Altima. In addition, Nissan would use Akamai's network of more than 13,000 edge servers to conduct the campaign.

The campaign is set to run on the NissanDriven site and Akamai said its technology would be used to help with power individual user experiences.

"With the launch of the new Altima promotion, Akamai will enable us to deliver all types of rich, engaging content with superior performance and with reduced complexity, helping us to effectively build our online brand with new customers, and reinforce it with current customers," said Steven Silver, Nissan North America's director of eBusiness

Akamai's EdgeSuite software is aimed at reducing Internet infrastructure costs and for companies doing business on the Web. As a Web marketing foundation, it helps to distribute and manage the online component of an integrated marketing campaign, enabling businesses to organize planning and measure the results of a campaign.
