Launching under a month ago, ASP Wrapzap announced last week an alliance with Adobe Systems, the fourth largest US based personal software company with annual revenues of $1 billion.

Under terms of the alliance, Adobe GoLive 4.0 users will have the ability to create and deploy interactive Web and e-mail applications through the use of Wrapzap.

The Wrapzap service transparently generates and hosts custom application scripts and database structures needed to power interactive Web applications. Used in conjunction with Adobe GoLive 4.0, designers create an application form using GoLive which is then easily and quickly powered y the Wrapzap service, running invisibly in the background and allowing Web site owners complete control over all site branding.

Frank Mara, chief executive officer, believes the company's alliance with Adobe is a very significant step.

"This is huge for a company like Wrapzap," he said. "After our launch, Adobe moved very quickly to support our service. Being endorsed by such a leader in the Web creation market is huge for us."

Santa Cruz, Calif. -based Wrapzap launched May 15, unveiling its Internet service, claiming it would allow users to easily create and deploy interactive Web and e-mail applications (see related ASP-News story, Start-Up Wrapzap Unveils New Internet Service, May 19th, 2000).

Mara explained to ASP-News that there are three pieces to the non-exclusive agreement held by the two companies.

"The alliance will extend and expand our co-marketing partnership, support customers in a jointly fashion and allow for access to each other's technology, paving the way for greater cross-company development."

As a result of this alliance, Wrapzap expects to largely build upon its base of hundreds of registered Web designers and attract other players in the space.

"We are anticipating early pick-up ISPs and Web hosting companies," Mara said.

Mara told ASP-News last month that the company wants to see the majority of Web sites using Wrapzap to power their application within 18 to 24 months. "It actually has a possibility of happening, now that Adobe has acted and others are looking at us," Mara said.

"Now with our new relationship with Adobe, Wrapzap is better capable of supporting the creative needs of Website designers and enthusiasts," Mara said.
