Unisys Signs $200m Management Contract With BT

Unisys has signed a $200 million contract with BT to design and install new cabling infrastructure.

Unisys says it will put in over 15,000 miles of cable and 700,000 sockets at over 7,500 BT customer sites during the first year of the contract.

"The BT brand image for quality is very important to us. We chose to renew our partnership with Unisys because of their ongoing commitment to deliver the required quality of service expected from BT, and their expertise in providing complex service management solutions in a way that supports the maintenance of the BT brand image," said Craig Rowland, general manager, BT Business Systems.

The new contract is a five-year extension of an original agreement and is seen as greatly strengthening the relationship between BT and Unisys. The two companies conducted an extensive poll of customers to determine service levels before agreeing the new contract.

BT says it can now offer a broader portfolio of services as a result of its partnership with Unisys, providing customers with a single source for integrated voice and data cabling services.
