Security Firm Unveils Online Y2K Bugzapper

Satyam Computer Services Friday rolled out Dr. Millennium, an online deployment tool used to diagnose and update Y2K compliance in an IT infrastructure.

The company claims the service rectifies "virtually all aspects" of Y2K compliance and resolution.

"Now, with Dr. Millennium, individuals, corporations and institutions around the world can gain immediate online access to cost-effective and easy-to-use comprehensive Y2K solutions," said Richard Grehalva, Satyam's senior vice president of global sales and marketing.

The first in the planned series of services to be offered is the audit and repair of Y2K problems existing in BIOS, operating systems, commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) and user-created files.

Dr. Millennium first presents an overall report of Y2K compliance status of an infrastructure. Details will then be compared to a repository and the status of each component will be reported back. Dr. Millennium's repository database has more than 15,000 entries, covering nearly 7,500 applications, that is continually upgraded.

Satyam is an IT solutions provider based in Hyderabad, India, with branches in the U.S., UK, Japan and Singapore.
