Orbis Launches OpenBet Gambling System

London-based Orbis has launched a complete end-to-end solution for running gambling sites on the World Wide Web.

Called OpenBet, the new system can handle hundreds of thousands of account holders and millions of plays per day.

"Datamonitor predicts that $3 billion a year will be wagered on Web sites in Europe alone over the next five years as the Internet attracts a new breed of punter who will place bets from the comfort of their homes or offices," said Charles Malir, managing director of Orbis.

"Suddenly High Street bookies and new market entrepreneurs have recognised the massive opportunity -- as well as the dangers of missing the boat. With OpenBet, a betting site can be up and running in very short timescales yet deliver a robust, reliable and well proven solution."

To date, Orbis has enabled three UK-based sports gambling sites, including PA Sporting Life, and, more recently, Blue Square, for the bookmaker City Index. The Blue Square site is based on OpenBet.

OpenBet handles the whole of the online betting process, from registration to paying out, while giving operators full control over betting activities.
