Yahoo! Rolls Out Auctions in Germany

Yahoo! Inc. Wednesday announced Yahoo! Germany has rolled out a German version of its auction service.

Sellers can hawk their items in German marks, U.S. dollars, the euro, Swiss francs and Austrian shillings, among other currencies.

Yahoo! will not take commissions or charge listing fees.

"Yahoo! continues to offer users around the world valuable commerce services to help them connect with relevant individuals or sources to find and buy what they want," said Jim McCarthy, Yahoo!'s international commerce producer. "With Yahoo! Germany Auctions, German speakers around the world now have an online marketplace to easily sell their products, grow their businesses and reach a targeted audience of interested buyers."

For the launch, Yahoo! Germany Auctions will coordinate a special charity auction event with German radio station Antenne Bayern for a non-profit society founded to help people in need in Bavaria.

First launched in the U.S. in September 1998, Yahoo! Auctions service has been rolled out in Yahoo!'s Canada, UK & Ireland and Australia & New Zealand sites.
