Phone.com in Two International Wins

Phone.com has had two major wins this week in providing its Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) technology to telecommunications vendors who want to transmit data to Net devices.

The company announced that Siemens and Mannesmann Mobilfunk will use its UP.Link technology to provide wireless Internet access to German smart phone users.

UP.Link is a server-based suite of products, including a gateway, that delivers data to WAP-enabled smart phones. The companies announced the information will be available this month.

Specifically, Siemens will integrate UP.Link into Mannesmann Mobilfunk's GSM network.

In addition, Shinsegi Telecom of Korea announced it would use UP.Link to offer Internet access to its CDMA users. The company has more than 3 million subscribers in Korea.

Phone.com is one of the founders of the WAP Forum, which is developing and promoting the WAP protocol.
