Air Canada Teams Up for Web-Based Booking

GetThere.com, formerly the Internet Travel Network, plans to provide its Internet-based flight booking technology to Air Canada, Canada's largest airline.

The companies also plan for Air Canada to make an equity investment in GetThere.com.

Under the letter of intent, GetThere.com will provide its ITN FlightRez(tm) online booking technology for the Air Canada site.

This technology is currently used to enable online booking for United Airlines, All Nippon Airways, National Airlines and Lauda Air. GetThere.com recently announced relationships with Northwest Airlines and America West Airlines.

"Air Canada is recognized as a key airline for the North America travel market in addition to leading the Canadian marketplace," said Gadi Maier, president and CEO of GetThere.com. "A great deal of this leadership comes from the company's emphasis on providing excellent customer service, and continuously evolving Internet technology that helps the airline provide additional convenience to its customers."

"We believe this alliance will position us to take advantage of GetThere.com's existing technology, as well as to provide input to drive Air Canada's expanding Internet services," said Lise Fournel, senior vice president, Commercial at Air Canada.
