Bell Canada Taps Netscape Expertise for Unified Messaging

Bell Emergis, a new division of Bell Canada, aims to develop a steady stream of product and service innovations ideally suited to meet the needs of customers and companies that provide telecommunications and electronic information services, both in Canada and abroad.
The Unified Multimedia Messaging infrastructure will use Netscape's hosting solutions as well as Netscape's Netcenter Online service to complement Bell Emergis' own expertise in creating end-user solutions that integrate telephony and the Internet.
Bell's new multimedia messaging service will allow customers to access voicemail messages and fax services from their e-mail account. Users will also be able to access e-mail from a variety of other devices, such as their display phone, pager, fax, and cell phone.
Bell Canada is Canada's largest telecommunications operating company, serving more than seven million business and residence customers in Ontario and Quebec.
