Avici Adds Sales Vet

The North Billerica, Mass., telecom equipment maker taps Chris Simpson, a former Cienna and Qualcomm exec, to oversee sales, marketing and services.

Avici Systems, a North Billerica, Mass., telecommunications equipment maker, has named Chris Simpson to oversee sales, marketing and services.

"Chris has a proven track record, and we are confident his experience and in-depth industry knowledge will focus our sales efforts and continue Avici's growth," said Avici president and CEO Steve Kaufman.

Simpson most recently served as senior vice president, sales for Ciena. Previously, he held senior posts at Harris Corporation's RF Communications and Qualcomm.

Prior to his Qualcomm tenure, Simpson held management positions at Contel/ASC and ComSat Corporation. Simpson received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University.
