SpeechWorks Lands Lawyer

The Boston speech recognition and text-to-speech software maker taps Doron Gorshein, formerly of EchoStar, as vice president and general counsel.

SpeechWorks International, a Boston speech recognition and text-to-speech (TTS) software maker, has named Doron Gorshein vice president and general counsel.

Gorshein comes from EchoStar, a satellite communications company with sales of $2.7 billion (2000). There, he managed a variety of transactions including distribution contracts, preferred stock and other investments in technology companies, purchase of assets, and technology cooperation deals.

Prior to EchoStar, Gorshein held vice president and general counsel, legal advisor and director positions at Voxware, ECI Telecom and Turner Broadcasting.

"Doron's impressive industry achievements in SpeechWorks' key markets make him an important addition to our team," said Stuart R. Patterson, CEO of SpeechWorks. Gorshein holds a bachelor's degree from Tulane University and a Law Degree from Emory University School of Law.
