Quicken to Offer register.com Domains

In an effort to expand its brand to potential domain name registrants, register.com, inc. Monday signed an agreement with Intuit Inc. to provide a link to register.com directly from Intuit's popular Quicken business software.

register.com's domain registration services will be installed directly through an icon from Intuit's (INTU) Quicken 2000 Home and Business Software. Users can now access many register.com's products and services, including domain registration and payroll administration, the companies said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Quicken 2000 allows consumers and small business owners to manage finances from the same sotware package. By including its domain name services within the software, register.com reaches potential registrants directly from their desktops, said Richard Forman, president and CEO of register.com.

"Quicken Home and Business 2000 users will now have the resources they need to register their Internet domains across over 24 domain extensions, access necessary business resources and manage their business as well as their own finances, all in one package," Forman said.

register.com services will initially be available only on the Windows version of Quicken 2000. No word on whether it will be expanded to the Macintosh version of the program.

register.com began registering domain names in June as one of the initial registers accredited by the Internet Corp. of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to compete with domain registrar Network Solutions Inc. (NSOL)
