Scotiabank's e-Scotia.com Specializes in E-Commerce Security

Scotiabank, one of Canada's major financial institutions, has launched e-Scotia.com to provide companies with technology for conducting business transactions securely on the Internet.

e-Scotia.com's initial focus is to offer e-commerce products and services to companies to secure their business on the Internet. Entrust Technologies will supply e-Scotia.com with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology.

"We have heard from our business customers that security concerns have made some Canadian companies reluctant about doing business on the Internet--e-Scotia.com will address those concerns," said Albert Wahbe, the new president of e-Scotia.com.

"We are pleased to build on our successful partnership with Scotiabank by participating in this initiative -- the first of its kind -- to broadly distribute digital certificates to secure e-commerce transactions and communications for Canadian businesses," said John Ryan, president and CEO, Entrust Technologies Inc.

"Scotiabank, with our PKI software solutions, has played a leadership role as the world's largest issuer of digital certificates through its Scotia OnLine service. Now, through e-Scotia.com, they will be able to continue this leadership through this new service to enable e-commerce transactions."
