Does 2Wrongs.com make a right? Investors are saying yes with the Falls Church, Va., company completing a $4 million private round of financing with venture capitalists Lazard Technology Partners and Draper Atlantic.

According to 2Wrongs.com CEO Jonathan Kilberg, the funds will be used for the firms' upcoming initial public offering, including hardware acquisition, management team build-out, member services and marketing.

"We find this investment opportunity particularly exciting because of its unique value proposition, huge target market and endorsement by Draper Atlantic. Draper knows the Internet search market exceptionally well," said Lazard's Marie-Louise Murville, who is joining the 2Wrongs.com board of directors.

Draper Atlantic's Dan Rua added, "Jon and his team have something real and evolutionary. They've applied a network effects model to search and build the killer search engine for communities. Simply put, 'the community is the engine' and it finds anything faster and easier. We're excited about the coming launch."

Lazard Technology Partners is an affiliate of the New York-based Lazard Freres & Co., and Draper Atlantic is the east coast affiliate fund of Silicon Valley's Draper Fisher Jurveston.

Founded in 1999, 2Wrongs.com specializes in Internet search technology. Using a patented methodology, the company seeks to improve the efficiency and relevance of information searches on the Web based on the assumption that like-minded individuals have similar search needs. The company fills these needs by implementing vertical search portals on specialized sites, while simultaneously employing users' favorite sites to rank the value of information. The result is a user-specific search engine that grows more intelligent as the Internet continues to expand.

"As the Internet continues to grow, an interesting paradox is emerging," Kilberg said. "With the increase in available information comes an increase in user anxiety. Current search technologies return tens of thousands of results per query, maybe one percent of which is relevant to the user ... it's the needle in the haystack problem. That's where we come in. Think of 2Wrongs as your own personal needle finders."

The company is located at http://www.2wrongs.com.
