Orion Technologies, Inc. plans to acquire erbia Networks, an integrated communications provider based in McLean, Va. Founded in 1998, erbia provides long distance telecommunications services to over 17,000 customers throughout the United States.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The Washington, D.C.-based Orion Technologies is a global company providing facilities based telecom services. Orion's services are provided by subsidiary companies and strategic alliances.
Frans Heideman, president and chief executive officer of Orion, said, "The acquisition of the erbia customer base, its call center in Florida, and its agreement with QWEST will add significantly to the business of our wholly owned subsidiary, Globalinx. Under the agreement, Preston Riner, President of Globalinx and Richard Gibbs, President of erbia, will jointly manage the merged businesses, effectively immediately. This will give Globalinx the ability to provision under the QWEST agreement and to market Globalinx's integrated product suites to the erbia customer base."
Arne Dunhem, chairman of erbia Networks added, "We are excited about the possibilities of combining erbia with Orion. During March, we began a program to market GlobalTrack, a nationwide one-number service, provided by Globalinx, to erbia's customers. With Orion, as a global company providing a full spectrum of seamlessly integrated, facilities-based telecom services, erbia moves to a much higher level to best service and grow our customer base."
Globalinx provides the facilities-based telecommunications, wireless, satellite, and terrestrial communications products and services for voice, data and video transmission to commercial clients worldwide.
