IceWEB Communications, Inc., a business-to-business broadcasting company, announced today it had raised approximately $1 million in first round financing. Simultaneously, the company completed its merger and re-incorporation as a Delaware corporation. In June. the Herndon, Va.-based company acquired the assets of Silver Spring, Md.-based LearningStream, Inc.
"Steaming media enables any business to instantly communicate to anyone, anywhere in the world, anytime," said John R. Signorello, IceWEB chairman and chief executive officer. "Why waste money on airline tickets, hotels, etc. when you can launch new products, train your employees and talk to your business partners with the click of a mouse? At IceWEB we have the technology, the products and the know-how to make this extraordinary technology easy to use and affordable."
A business-to-business broadcasting company, IceWEB's customers use the Internet to deliver information through interactive multi-media presentations to enhance their business results, reinforce brand equity and reach their global audiences. In addition, the company is in the process of announcing a line of software products and services that enable end users to create their own interactive, streaming media presentations.
"The use of streaming in the business-to-business market is growing exponentially and for good reasons. For example, we recently designed, implemented and delivered an interactive Web conference to introduce our customer's new product. The results were astonishing," said Signorello. "Over 1,200 people signed up for the live conference. Each viewer could see both the presenter and his PowerPoint slides as if they were in an auditorium, and attendees could easily submit questions or access additional information. The one-hour web conference created over $22M in new business opportunities."
In September the company created two IceWEB operating divisions including Consulting Services (based on Columbia, Md.), providing custom streaming media solutions for customers such as Cendent Corporation, American Express, and NASA; and Products (based in Herndon), focusing on creating and delivering proprietary products that allow businesses to create streaming media applications.
