ScottishTelecom Changes Name

The change of name has been supported by an elaborate Web site, entitled www.let-it-be-thus.com, which explains the rationale behind the name change.
ScottishTelecom, or rather Thus, says that it aims to become one of the UK's leading data and Internet solutions providers. All the research it conducted prior to the name change suggested that re-branding was essential if the company were to become competitive with other, more established brands.
"These are exciting times for our company," said managing director Bill Allan.
ScottishTelecom's re-branding will affect all of its services over the coming months -- except for Demon Internet, which is already one of the strongest Internet brands in the UK.
Thus will begin a national network roll-out this month. It will offer next-generation integrated Internet, e-commerce and data solutions to the whole of the UK -- not just Scotland -- and will focus initially on business customer needs.
Last month, the company's parent, Scottish Power, announced its intention to float a minority share of Scottish Telecom on the London Stock Exchange before the end of the year.
