Buyline.net, Inc., a developer of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce applications, is bringing in Michael J. Deale as its new president and chief executive officer. Deale will serve as interim president and CEO until the completion of an equity ownership deal between Buyline and U.S. Technologies, Inc.(OTC Bulletin Board: USXX).
Under the agreement, U.S. Technologies will purchase additional equity interests in Buyline.net. The additional equity interests in Buyline will be purchased for cash and the exchange of Buyline stock for stock in U.S. Technologies. The transactions, which are scheduled to close in mid-April, will give U.S. Technologies a majority stake in Buyline, with operating control.
Deale, who most recently served as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Next Generation Fund, spent nearly a decade in Silicon Valley and was the third employee hired at Red Pepper Software, a venture capital backed company that was sold to PeopleSoft in 1996 for $225 million.
Following that sale, Deale served as a vice president at Arbor Software (now Hyperion Solutions), another publicly traded venture backed company.
Along with Deale, Buyline.net also is appointing Edward S. Hauck to the position of non-executive chairman. Hauck is currently a managing director of Vector Development, LLC, a Northern Virginia based Internet incubator. He also recently served as senior vice president and group publisher at Phillips Business Information, Inc.
