In a combination of promotions and new hires, Network Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSOL) is bringing in five new vice presidents to take over operations in the Herndon, Va.-based company's registrar, registry and corporate services areas.
John McInnes will serve as vice president of the Network Infrastructure Integration group for Network Solutions' Registrar. His responsibilities include design, implementation and continuous improvement of Network Solutions' information infrastructure, allowing the company to meet both short and long-term business goals. McInnes will report to chief information officer Rick Walsh.
Jeffrey Johnson, who went from director to vice president of Network Solutions' idNames, will oversee the industry research, business strategy, service development, business development, promotion, and operations functions. idNames provides corporate services for the domain name registration and maintenance needs of many of the world's largest trademark owners.
For the Registry, Thomas Newell received a promotion from director to vice president of Registry DNS Programs, reporting to general manager Bruce Chovnick. As vice president of Registry Domain Name System (DNS) Programs, Newell will be responsible for overseeing the global DNS infrastructure of the .com, .net and .org top-level domains (TLDs), and technical support to Registry business development initiatives.
Two members of Network Solutions' corporate team also received promotions to vice president, including Jim Ulam, vice president-assistant general counsel and secretary, reporting to Jon Emery, senior vice president-general counsel, and Karla Leavelle, vice president of Human Resources, reporting to chief financial officer Bob Korzeniewski.
Ulam joined Network Solutions' legal department in 1996, and has held various positions within the organization, including most recently assistant general counsel. In his new position, Ulam will handle the practice areas of securities, mergers and acquisitions, equity financing, private placements and public stock offerings, corporate and other commercial transactions.
As vice president of human resources, Leavelle will be responsible for recruitment, employee benefits, organizational development, employee relations and internal HR policy at Network Solutions. She joined Network Solutions in 1998 as the company's first director of human resources.
Earlier this month, VeriSign, Inc. agreed to acquire Network Solutions, located at http://www.netsol.com on the Web.
