J. Carter Beese, a former member of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is joining the board of directors of technology infrastructure management company MainControl, Inc. of McLean, Va.
Beese is president of Riggs Capital Partners, a division of Riggs National Corporation, where he manages a $100 million venture capital fund. He also serves as a senior advisor to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a non-partisan public policy think tank, and is involved in the World Economic Forum.
He is also a director on the boards of Aether Systems of Owings Mill, Md. (Nasdaq: AETH), China.com: Internet Securities Inc., a company owned by Euromoney Institutional Investor, Inc.; and Natural Solutions, Inc.
From 1992 to 1994 Beese served as a commissioner for the SEC. He also served as vice chairman of the Global Banking Group of BT Alex. Brown, as well as chairman of Alex. Brown International.
