Online children's retailer eToys Inc. (Nasdaq: ETYS) is bringing in Theodore F. Augustine as senior vice president and chief logistics officer. Augustine was most recently vice president of global logistics and distribution for computer manufacturer Gateway Inc.

In his new role, Augustine will lead the continued development and execution of eToys' worldwide operations strategy, and will be responsible for the company's distribution centers, inbound and outbound logistics, and inventory management, as well as their integration with eToys' information technology systems.

He will report directly to Toby Lenk, the company's president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Gateway in 1998, Augustine held senior management positions with Tech Data Corp., M-Group Logistics and The Eli Witt company.

Lenk said the company also plans to outfit and expand an East Coast distribution center in Danville, Va.
