Professors Paula Monopoli and Marin Scordato, two visiting law scholars at the University of Maryland School of Law, have agreed to join NextClient's advisory board.
The two professors join other distinguished scholars in guiding NextClient's editorial mission of presenting complex legal topics in a readable format consumers can easily understand.
Monopoli has served as vice chair of the American Bar Association Significant Developments Committee -- Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section (1997); and as a lecturer and steering committee member of the Harvard Law School National Conference on Attorney Representation of Children (1990). She recently founded and maintains PortiaLaw, a Web site for women lawyers and law students.
Prior to becoming a legal educator, Monopoli spent seven years in private practice with the firms of Hawkins, Delafield & Wood; Holland & Knight; and Hill & Barlow.
In 1992, Scordato joined the faculty at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles where he was named the Irwin R. Buchalter Distinguished Professor of Law. He founded the Southwestern University Continuing Professional Education Series, and created the Southwestern Entertainment and Media Law Institute.
Prior to joining Southwestern University, Scordato taught at the Florida State University College of Law, where he was voted Professor of the Year in 1985-86. In 1987 Professor Scordato joined the faculty of Suffolk University Law School in Boston, where he was awarded the Cornelius J. Moynihan Award for Teaching Excellence.
Before starting his career as a law professor, Scordato had been in private practice with the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
