CDnow said spelling-challenged music fans will now be able to look up musical artists regardless of the mistakes they make when spelling the artist's name thanks to a new search engine that employs Verity Inc.'s K2 search technology.
CDnow said it is the first online music retailer to offer the search function which is designed to incorporate the site's ever expanding editorial content and product listings into the new search capabilities.
"When you really want something, you'll find it at CDnow, even if you can't spell it," said Jason Olim, CDnow President and CEO, in a statement. "With CDnow's growing and demanding business, and hundreds of thousands of searches a day, we chose Verity K2 technology because it can fulfill our needs for accuracy and future growth."
"CDnow is one of a handful of sites comprising the top tier of e-commerce," said Ronald Weissman, Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development for Verity. "As a top-tier e-commerce site, CDnow's requirements for accuracy, performance and scalability are among the toughest in the industry--an ideal application for Verity's K2 technology."
