Asia Capacity Exchange (ACE), a regional online market place for telecom capacity, has expanded its offerings to include a bandwidth trading service.
Through ACE, deals can now be struck for bandwidth throughout the Asia Pacific and between Asia Pacific and other global destinations, including TPC-5, NPC, US-China and US-Japan cables.
The launch of the bandwidth trading services follows the deployment last July of ACE's Telehub, a carrier grade switching platform that enables the routing of both call minutes and network bandwidth trades executed on the ACE Virtual Trading Floor.
"The opening of the ACE Virtual Trading Floor for international telephone minutes in March generated a great deal of interest and support from the Asia Pacific telecommunications industry," said Paula Brillson, managing director of the Asia Capacity Exchange. "The introduction of bandwidth trading, however, is an even more significant development in terms of potential market size."
The ACE is offering international bandwidth contracts in units from 64K up to E1, and running anywhere from three months to a full year.
International network utilisation levels typically vary between 50 percent and 70 percent, depending on the time of day and the day of the week, according to ACE.
