Web hosting firm Sage Networks, Inc. today announced the acquisition of Web hosters GEN International Inc., or Global Entrepreneurs Network.

The acquisition of St. Petersburg, FL-based GEN will add approximately 10,000 domains and a large network of resellers to Sage's current operations, the company said. Sage will consolidate operations into its Atlanta data facility and customer care center.

No financial or personnel specifics were announced.

"With Sage Networks' state of the art data centers and customer care, we are confident our customers will receive quality service and support," said Thomas Heimann, founder of GEN International. "Sage's broad range of hosted products and services will help our customers to be successful with their Web presence."

The acquisition of GEN marks the tenth firm to come under Sage's control.

"With the acquisition of GEN International, Sage Networks further strengthens its leadership position in the Web hosting market," said Bradley Feld, co-chairman of Sage Networks. "GEN Internationals' Web hosting offerings and broad reseller base are an excellent fit for Sage."
