British Telecom (BT) has dived into the home Net device business with the release of two simple access devices.
The new tools are aimed at simplifying the process of sending and receiving e-mail from home using standard telephone lines.
Specifically, BT has rolled out its Easicom TV3 set-top box and the Easicom 1000 desktop smart phone. The latter device comes with an 240 x 160 10-line LCD screen and a full keyboard that tucks under the device. It supports as many as five user accounts and an optional smart card reader is available.
The Easicom TV3 also comes with a keyboard and has a 100-entry address book. It includes basic features like a built-in word processor with spell checker for creating messages.
