InfoSpace.com Signs Deal With Pax TV

InfoSpace.com, Inc. Tuesday expanded its services into the television market by signing an agreement with Paxson Communications Corp. to provide local Web directory services to Paxson's television stations' Web sites.

Paxson owns and operates more than 85 local television stations throughout the country, as well as the PAX TV cable channel, reaching more than 1 million television viewers nightly, the company said. Infospace will offer a variety of features including yellow page directories, five-day weather forecasts and local, school and business information to Paxson's member station Web sites.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Naveen Jain, Infospace.com's chief executive officer, said the deal will provide Paxson viewers with a variety of local content.

"The addition of InfoSpace.com content to PAX TV's Web sites will give Internet users all across the country access to localized versions of the content they need," Jain said.

"Because of the broad appeal of the information InfoSpace.com will provide to each market, this alliance makes perfect sense," added Ben Ly, Paxson's director of online business development.

"Whether they're in Atlanta, Georgia or Albany, N.Y., PAX TV viewers can now access relevant and useful local information at the Web site."
