dstore Opens for Business

Australia's newest online department store, a joint venture between Looksmart and Rebel Sport and private investors, is set to open on Monday.

In addition to toys and sporting goods, dstore Dstore will also offer product advice, sports related-articles, sporting news and results, discussion boards and a search facility that searches relevant products according to consumer specifications.

"We have created a community where children and parents can regularly interact and have fun, find out useful information, and make informed buying decisions, " said dstore CEO David Gold.

The site will initially fulfil orders out of Melbourne, and then Sydney in early 2000 enabling delivery to metropolitan centres within 48 hours. Melbourne-based 3PP will handle fulfillment. In order to encourage customers to patronage the site, dstore has implemented an extensive membership program.

"The program enables members to earn membership points not only for every dollar they spend, but for other interactions such as recommending a friend or participating in research surveys," Gold said.
