OCI Launches ADSL in Toronto, Montreal

Pathway Communications, OCI Communications' Toronto-based ISP subsidiary, has broken into the ADSL market in Canada.

Not only has the company expanded services into Montreal, it has become one of the first ISPs not affiliated with Bell Canada to offer ADSL Internet access in Canada.

Pathway's service is available to customers in the 416, 905 and 514 area codes. ADSL based Internet access delivers speeds up to 7.0 Mbps. Pathway's 1.0 Mbps service, starts at $249 a month for business users in Toronto and Montreal.

OCI president and chief executive officer Bob Latham said that one quarter after closing the acquisition of Pathway, OCI is pleased that the integration of the two companies has been so successful. He said that growth in Pathway's business sector has increased substantially in that time, with OCI's focus on business users, while the quality of service to individual users has been maintained at a high level.

OCI made the acquisition, which closed in July, to broaden its offerings, bringing customers a range of communications solutions including Internet access and local and long distance services. Pathway offers Internet connectivity, application development and e-commerce business packages.
