Keynote Opens in Europe

Keynote this week opened its European headquarters and appointed two top-level executives.

Roger Higgins is to lead Keynote's expansion into Europe as VP of strategic and international sales, while Olivier Carron de la Carriere is to be VP of Keynote Europe.

Keynote provides Internet performance measurement, diagnostic and consulting services to companies with e-commerce Web sites. According to the company, it captures over 15 million performance measurements every day using 220 measurement computers on major Internet backbones.

"Our new European operation and the appointment of two key executives lay the foundation for Keynote's aggressive expansion into Europe," said Umang Gupta, chairman and CEO of Keynote.

"Europe is a huge market opportunity and we believe we have the right sales leaders to pursue our strategy to deliver our Internet performance measurement services to the European market. These new appointments help us optimise our sales and distribution strategies to best meet the needs of our international customers."

Roger Higgins, who until now has been running U.S. sales for Keynote, said that the company had established leadership of the market in the United States.

"The size of the European e-commerce market is expected to be at least 40 percent of the multi-billion-dollar U.S. e-commerce market in 2000, so the opportunities are enormous for us to extend Keynote's market and brand recognition," said Higgins.

Among Keynote's existing customers are Amazon.com, CDNow, Compaq Computer, Dell Computer and Microsoft.
