Wednesday took steps to empower its membership by acquiring event-planning Web site for approximately $162 million in stock. provides tools to manage all aspects of an event including online ticketing, customized event Web sites, automated invitation and RSVP management and instant online reports that monitor ticket sales and revenue. The ticketing and event planning features will add to the success of the firm's event calendar service, which chairman and chief executive officer Michael Robertson said has met with success.
