V-SPAN Unveils iBAP

V-SPAN Wednesday announced the Internet Broadband Application Platform (iBAP), which enables video collaboration over cable systems and other broadband networks.

Created for new media networks, the platform allows for reservationless broadband communication via a Web browser. This service is scheduled for availability during first quarter.

"V-SPAN's iBAP technology is the answer to effortless broadband communications," said Ken Hayward, president and founder of V-SPAN. "The development of iBAP, as a complete broadband video solution, was in response to the vastly expanding market that demands business quality performance over new media networks like cable, wireless and DSL."

The Internet Broadband Application Platform offers multimedia collaboration by dragging and dropping participants into a conference using a standard Web browser. Multimedia conferences can be held instantaneous or by reservation, regardless of hardware or network differentials, the company said.

With iBAP's directory services, V-SPAN can create "virtual meeting rooms" on the Web. The technology will authenticate an unlimited number of meeting participants as they arrive from different networks. Additional participants can join a conference at anytime via video, audio, chat or streaming.
