Travel Site eDreams Launches In Spain

European-focused travel Web site operation eDreams has launched in Spain, following on the heels of its launch in Italy in February.

eDreams said it has signed agreements with more than 25 Spanish tour operators including Tiempo Libre, Mundicolor, Soltour, Turavia and Club de Vacaciones.

Final sales transactions for eDreams' holidays are handled by Ultramar Express' call center. eDreams claims to offer "the broadest range of holidays on the Internet, from a weekend in the Spanish countryside to a trekking holiday in Nepal." The company has agreements with more than 50 top tour operators.

"What makes us different is our team of more than 300 DreamGuides -- real people who are experts in worldwide destinations and leisure activities," said James Hare, eDreams president and co-founder.

"Each DreamGuide produces original and up-to-the-moment information on their specialist subject, offers totally unbiased advice to the traveler on their dream holiday and responds to e-mail inquiries from customers."

Founded in March 1999 in Silicon Valley, eDreams has offices in London, Barcelona, Milan and San Francisco. The company has raised more than $20 million in financing from Apax Partners, Atlas Venture, BSCH, Net-Partners and Doll Capital for its European launches.

eDreams said it will launch in the UK by the end of June and has also announced plans for further European expansion in France and Germany.
