NBCi Acquires Husdawg, Expands E-commerce Services

NBC Internet Inc. Tuesday acquired Husdawg Communications and plans to merge the firm with NBCi Direct, its e-list management and database marketing division.

Financial details were not disclosed.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen NBCi Direct's ability to market direct e-commerce services to a wide array of computer software and hardware companies. The joint venture builds upon NBCi's strategy of brokering commercial transactions for its e-commerce partners and Husdawg's specialization in customer relationship management. The companies said NBCi Direct's permission-based services is expected to add value to hardware and software company relationships bringing its user base targeted e-commerce offers.

NBCi (NBCI) connects buyers to sellers through its consumer portal, which provides online search and directory information, community, e-commerce and entertainment services. Husdawg Communications, an electronic registration and customer relationship management service for the computer software and hardware industries, will continue to create and market its services to its current client roster, which includes Mattel Interactive, H&R Block, GT Interactive, Logitech and Interplay.

The acquisition will add muscle to NBCi's ability to offer customizable services to software and hardware companies and their end-users, according to Will Lansing, NBCi's chief executive officer.

"NBCi looks to continue building highly targetable direct e-commerce and e-marketing capabilities, focusing our business on the brokering of transaction between buyers and sellers," Lansing said. "Since its launch in March, NBCi has been steadily adding clients and marketers while building its core capabilities."
